Thyroid disorders have become increasingly prevalent among women, presently.
Symptoms of Tiredness/ Hair loss / Weight changes / Irregular cycles/ Mood swings/ Skin dryness. Some may also notice a lump in the neck.

VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY
Lack of Sunlight exposure leads to reduced VitaminD synthesis. Vitamin D is also a hormone which helps with calcium balance. Lack of Vitamin D leads to bony pain/ muscle aches/ hairfall and fatigue.

DIABETES
Increased blood sugar leads to Diabetes. Although genetics does play a role, the major contributor is lifestyle and obesity. Symptoms include frequent urination, feeling of excessive thirst, feeling tired, repeated infections and weight loss.

OBESITY
Although lifestyle-related weight gain is the most common cause of obesity ( excessive intake of calories and sedentary lifestyle), hormonal causes of obesity like thyroid disorder or steroid excess have to be rules out. Further complications due to obesity like High sugars/ Hypertension/ Elevated lipid levels/ snoring need to be monitored.

REPRODUCTIVE AND SEXUAL FUNCTIONS
Hormone are essential for menstrual cycles and for sexual function. Right from onset of puberty, physical changes of puberty, regular cycles in women, mood and conception, hormones play a major role. For men, onset of puberty and libido depend heavily on hormone secretion.

GROWTH DISORDER
For children to attain their Target Height, the role of Growth hormone, Thyroid hormone and nutrition is very important.

OSTEOPOROSIS
Fragility of bones can lead to increased risk of fracture. This can be prevented by proper supplementation of Calcium and Vitamin D and also specialised medications, if necessary.

PITUITARY DISORDER
Various brain tumors can lead to disorders of pituitary, the master gland for hormone, situated in the brain. Prolactinoma/ Cushings / Acromegaly/ Pituitary Micro and Macroadenoma, Hypophysitis (pituitary stalk thickening) are some pituitary disorders.

ADRENAL DISORDERS
Adrenals are glands situated above the kidneys on both sides. They secrete hormones for Blood pressure maintenance and Sexual functions too. Hypertension in young, increased facial hair in women are some conditions where an adrenal role is thought of.
