Internal Medicine

Caring for the Whole Patient

Internal Medicine deals with prevention, diagnosis and treatment of non surgical adult diseases, no matter how common or rare, or how simple or complex. Internists are specially trained to solve confusing diagnostic problems and can handle chronic illnesses and situations where several different illnesses may coexist. They also bring to patients an understanding of wellness - disease prevention and the promotion of health. When other medical specialists are involved, such as surgeons or gynecologists, they coordinate their patient's care and manage medical problems associated with that care.
