Are Pre-employment Checks covered by medical insurance?

Pre-employment medical checks are not usually covered by medical insurance. The client either pays directly or the contracted organization may be invoiced.

How quickly can you get an appointment for pre-employment checks?

uniCare has a dedicated occupational health department. Therefore you can get appointments at very short notice.

How long does it take to get the reports?

The usual turnaround time for pre-employment checks is 48 to 72 hours. However, in unusual circumstances, when a report is required urgently, the reports may be processed in 24 hours.

What happens if there are any medical issues noted during medical examination?

Pre-employment medical examinations are conducted to determine if an employee can safely do a specific job or task under the working conditions provided on the job description. If the employee is noted to have a medical condition that is detrimental, uniCare has wide range of specialists, who can assess and initiate treatment if necessary. In such cases, the fitness to work certificate may be issued after the specialist assessment.

What should an employee do/ bring along when attending the pre-employment health check?

  • Since most pre-employment check requires a fasting blood sample test, the prospective candidate should come to the centre having fasted for at least 10 hours. A glass or two of water may be consumed.
  • Photo ID – either national identity card or passport
  • Medical reports from previous doctors if they have had any serious medical condition
  • Completed company issued medical questionnaire if any.
